Everyone dreams of a relaxing home that matches their personal style, will withstand the test of time, and doesn’t break the bank. Many stores that look affordable, sell low quality furniture, while many stores that look stylish, cost a pretty penny.
In 2005, siblings Kris and Vic opened UBU Furniture with the hopes of providing a different experience. Here, you don’t have to pick between style, price, and quality.
Since 2005, UBU has been featured on Wood TV’s eightWest and named National Retailer of the Year in 2008 by the National Home Furnishing Association. UBU continues to set itself apart by providing the best designers and resources in town. At UBU, you’ll feel comfortable and in control of your home makeover—and you’ll even have some fun too!
I hold a BFA from Calvin College. I have enjoyed using both my experience and degree to work with clients all over Michigan, the U.S.A. and Canada. My favorite part of the design process is utilizing my knowledge and love of textiles to transform a space. But the end goal is to visually articulate a client’s space, by blending both practical needs with their dreams and inspirations.
Having lived overseas and traveled all over the world my design reflects a creative and distinctive approach to your spaces. It’s my goal to enhance your quality of life by helping you to create beautiful and functional spaces. I partner with you to design spaces that help you to showcase your personal style and passions; spaces your family and friends will genuinely enjoy. With a BFA in interior design from Kendall College of Art & Design, my 20 years of design experience has included all sizes of projects from new home construction, remodeling, Parade of Homes showcases, vacation homes, kitchen and bath design and commercial projects from office spaces to restaurants.
Design is personal. Each of us has our own taste, style and needs. Using my design degree from Western Michigan University, I have the skill set to create spaces with balance, texture, contrast and color. I strive to partner with my clients. Together, we can utilize these elements to create space that is comfortable, functional, and beautiful. Design should be unexpected. This is achieved by using my clients as the inspiration. I love using your goals, and inspirations to transform any space to the desired outcome; a true blend of the design elements and the users themselves.
I believe in the power of beautiful interiors to transform daily life. Using my training and experience as an interior designer and my knowledge of furniture and textiles, I am able to help my clients create inviting spaces that are functional and inspirational. The most successful designs are those that aren’t over-designed. With that in mind, I love a design aesthetic that is crisp, timeless, clean, and warm, sometimes mixed with a hint of edginess, always with a balanced mix of textures and finishes. My goal is to utilize a space with balance, choose furnishings with care, and create interiors that transform.
With an extensive history in the design field Cassie believes that there are three main considerations when designing a space. Function, scale and balance. She can help you to achieve these and arrive at a comfortable, pleasant surrounding.
