Meet the Designers!
Laura’s approach to interior design often begins with a source of inspiration: a rug, a piece of art, a page from a fashion magazine. While focusing on each clients’ unique style preferences, Laura applies her experience and design principles to floor plans, furniture, fabrics, and accessories, resulting in a client-centered design. She has experience in a wide range of styles, including loft, cottage, contemporary, traditional, and modern.
With an extensive history in the design field Cassie believes that there are three main considerations when designing a space. Function, scale and balance. She can help you to achieve these and arrive at a comfortable, pleasant surrounding.
Shannon Gales holds a BFA from Calvin College. She has enjoyed using both her experience and degree to work with clients all over Michigan, the U.S.A and Canada. Her favorite part of the design process is utilizing her knowledge and love of textiles to transform a space. But the end goal is to visually articulate a client’s space, by blending both practical needs with their dreams and inspirations.
Since graduating with her degree in Interior Design, Gretchen has gained a variety of experience in the profession.
Her goal when working with clients is to create functional and personal environments through mixing design styles and also incorporating unique, individual elements to make a one-of-a-kind space.
UBU’s In-Home Design Consultation
UBU Home Furnishings is your local source committed to creating spaces in your home that are uniquely you! We can take the hassle and pressure out of your next decorating project. Visit our store and begin dreaming. Our designers can design it with you and when your space is done you’ll love it!
Your initial in-home consultation:
With our in-home consulataion, your designer would tour your home, take notes and photographs. Next, you would discuss your vision for the space, traffic flow, lifestyle, color preferences and design style. At this time your budget and timeline will also be discussed.
This initial home visit typically takes about an hour depending on the scope of your project.
After your in-home consultation:
Your designer will take the information gathered back to UBU to create and prepare a custom presentation that will take place in our store approximately one week after the initial visit. Here your new space will be unveiled and an initial order can be placed for as much or as little as you’d like to get started.
In-home design service = $75-100 per hour
In-store design service = Free
We recommend a follow-up consultation to ensure your design goals have been achieved and your vision has become a reality! It is at this time that we can discuss any finishing touches you desire to accomplish or projects you wish to tackle in the future.

When I woke up this morning and walked into the kitchen, I had to pinch myself! Everything is so beautiful….I can’t believe this is my house!! It is exactly what Dan and I wanted and then some!
